Guehi came through the academy but headed through the Stamford Bridge exit door after featuring just twice for the first-team.

He has since become one of the best defenders in the and was a key player for England at Euro 2024 last summer.

According to , an offer of £40million may be enough for transfer talks between and Palace to gain traction.

The Eagles were said to be after £70m for the 24-year-old last summer when came calling, with Guehi ultimately missing out on a move to St James’ Park.

He would likely jump at the opportunity to rejoin his boyhood club and show boss that he is cut out to perform on the biggest stage.

Two players they could offload are Ben Chilwell and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who have both been starved of gametime under Maresca.

Chilwell appears to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge after playing just 45 minutes of football this season.

He was absent from the squad for their FA Cup third round clash with Morecambe on Saturday, with his manager explaining: “Chilwell is thinking he’s going to leave, it’s better to avoid using him to avoid injury.”

The left-back is valued at £17m by , with West Ham and Juventus said to be interested in signing him this month.

Dewsbury-Hall, meanwhile, has flopped since following Maresca from Leicester to in a £30m deal last summer.

He is yet to start a match for the west London giants and was ruled out of the Morecambe clash with an injury issue. The 26-year-old, who is said to have a , has also piqued the interest of West Ham and has even been linked with a return to Leicester this month.

If can ship both players out of the club in the coming weeks for a total of £40m, they would get their hands on the cash they need to enter into negotiations over Guehi. And Guehi’s arrival would be massive for the Blues.
