A section of Highway 17 was closed Saturday morning while police investigate
Two people are in hospital after a crash early Saturday on Highway 17 under the Port Mann Bridge in Surrey.
The Surrey Police Service says a section of the highway is closed while police investigate the collision.
Police say shortly after 1:30 a.m., they received calls that a vehicle with three occupants struck a pole under the bridge and was on fire.
Emergency crews responded and found that the three occupants — two adults and one child — had been pulled from the car by a Good Samaritan.
The two adults were transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and the child was examined by paramedics and is with family, police said.
Police say road closures and traffic diversions may last several more hours as officers conduct their investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502.
