In 2021, Scott remarried Dan Jewett, a Seattle-based chemistry teacher who had spent most of his life in the classroom, arguably making him the richest educator in the world.
The quiet wedding surprised many, as Jewett wasn’t a public figure. The couple met at the private school where Scott’s children were students.
Jewett had previously taught at Harriton High School in Pennsylvania and The Bush School in Seattle, where colleagues and students praised his passion for teaching.

Josh Verlin, a former student, described Jewett as “energetic, passionate, and genuinely kind.”
He told : “He so clearly loved what he was doing. You wanted to be in his class.”
And perhaps that kindness as a teacher led to him becoming one of the world’s richest educator overnight following his marriage.
Jewett reportedly shared Scott’s dedication to philanthropy and even joined her in signing the Giving Pledge – a commitment by some of the world’s wealthiest people to donate the majority of their wealth to charity.
On the pledge’s website, Jewett wrote: “I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know and am joining her in a commitment to pass on enormous financial wealth to serve others.”

However, their marriage was short-lived. In 2022, Scott filed for divorce, which was finalised in January 2023 without a trial or requests for spousal support.
The split was amicable, and Scott removed mentions of Jewett from her public bios, returning to focus on her writing and philanthropic work.
It is unclear whether Jewett received any money or assets following the divorce.
For Scott, though, not much has changed and she remains one of the world’s richest women.
Forbes recently ranked her as the fifth richest woman globally, while Jewett has returned to his private life in Seattle.
