Breaking Bad house is now up for sale for incredible sum as owners ‘can’t fight any more’

Fans of the critically acclaimed series now have a chance to own a piece of television history.

The Albuquerque house that served as the exterior for Walter White’s home has been listed on the property market for an eye-watering $4 million.

However, the current owners are leaving behind more than just a famous address — they’re walking away from years of relentless attention from fans.

After the property became recognisable, it became a tourist magnet.

The house featured heavily throughout the series, and its exterior served as the backdrop for many pivotal scenes, from being covered in debris after a fictional plane crash to being doused in gasoline by the show’s protagonist.

While interior shots were filmed on a set, the home’s exterior is instantly recognisable to fans worldwide.

Joanne Quintana, whose family has owned the home since 1973, spoke out about the emotional toll of maintaining the property in the years since Breaking Bad aired.

She explained the decision to sell the house, telling KOB-TV: “This was our family home for almost 52 years. So we’re going to walk away with just our memories.

“It’s time to move on. We’re done. There’s no reason to fight anymore.”

Joanne’s decision to sell comes after years of dealing with fans reenacting scenes from the show.

Visitors have thrown pizzas on the roof in reference to one of Walter White’s famous scenes, climbed the fence to access the backyard pool, and even ignored health guidelines during the pandemic to gather outside the house.

The family installed a fence to try and ward off trespassers, but in the end, the constant attention proved too much for them to handle.

Whoever the lucky buyer is should be aware that they will likely face some of the same problems with over-zealous fans as the previous owners did.

Long before the house went on sale, Breaking Bad lovers have speculated about the financial benefits the Quintana family received for agreeing to feature their home in the show.

Joanne previously clarified their misconceptions about her family’s wealth in an interview with GeeEntertainment, saying: “People assume we made millions, millions off the show. We were not in the show, so we do not get residuals. We only got paid the location fee. A one-time fee. In and out. That’s it.”

Although the exact payment amount was not disclosed, reported that film location experts estimate the fee could have ranged from $12,000 to $1 million per year.

While the one-time payout helped during filming, it did not make the family wealthy.
