Amazon Prime series is ‘better than Handmaid’s Tale’ – but comes with a warning

One series focused on a group of teenagers stranded on a desert island has been branded “better than ”.

captured fans’ hearts with her performance as Offred in the dystopian series, and birthed a whole new generation of feminists with the adaptation of novel. But there’s another feminist show out there that had fans begging for more.

That show is The Wilds, available to stream on Prime Video. Starring Sarah Pidgeon, Mia Healey and Shannon Berry, the programme follows a group of teenage girls who find themselves stranded on a desert island when their plane crashes into the ocean.

Of course, there’s more to it than meets the eye – and the girls are unaware they’ve become the subjects of a terrifying social experiment. They’re forced to rely on each other to survive – but not everyone will make it.

Sadly, the show was cancelled after just two seasons – but it’s had fans pestering Amazon to renew it ever since.
