Brits dreaming of an getaway without the hassle will find it right on your doorstep.

Here, you will be greeted by fine architecture, including Regency villas and Georgian terraces, all perfectly framed with a chalk cliff coastline.

This bustling harbour town is home to award-winning beaches with splendid scenes of sunsets across bobbing boats and night skies filled with starlight.

The region’s Boating Pool has even drawn comparison to the but best of all, it’s far quicker and easier to get to than the Italian hotspot.

Ramsgate in is often overshadowed by its more popular neighbouring towns of Margate or Broadstairs but it’s high time this region deserves its moment in the spotlight.

This coastal town was granted the harbour marina royal status by George IV in 1821, transforming the region into the fashionable resort it is today, beckoning a long list of adventurers and explorers to come visit. 

Ramsgate provides a perfect paradox of a lively seaside town with a tranquil coastal vibe.

Take a stroll through the region’s town centre and you’ll be met with boutique and artisan shops to take your time in with bright, colourful buildings lining the streets.

Pop down to the region’s harbour to soak up the panoramic views of the quays, shipyards and traditional ships giving you that coastal vibe like no other.

Ramsgate’s Harbour Arches is a famous feature of the region serving up an eclectic mix of art, food and drink and marine businesses.

Located on Westcliff Promenade, you will find the Boating Pool, which is a large pool that overlooks the harbour and out towards the picturesque town of Sandwich. 

In a review of this family-friendly venue, drew a parallel with the Amalfi Coast, saying: “The Ramsgate Boating Pool, halfway down the Royal Esplanade, under blue skies and warm early summer sun is a case in point. It is, surely, one of Kent’s most picturesque and splendid seaside spots. I mean, just look at some of these pictures – if you told someone you were on the Amalfi Coast they’d believe it.” 

Ramsgate appeals to all ages with beach lovers in pure bliss thanks to the region’s south-facing Main Sands being one of the best in southern England – which stretches all the way out to Broadstairs’ Viking Bay.

Those looking for more of an adventure will find it on the 32-mile Viking Coastal Trail, where you can spot Ramsgate’s many types of wildlife, including birds, seals, and other animals.

Or for the ones who prefer to simply sit and watch the world go by, this harbour town boasts an array of impressive cafes, restaurants and bars.

“What a great harbour, loads to do with restaurants and bars galore,” wrote one visitor on TripAdvisor.

Another added: “Had no idea Ramsgate was such a beautiful town, harbour rather stunning, we enjoyed our visit very much.”
