Remove grease from clothes with one kitchen staple
When it comes to cleaning, sometimes the best solution has been under your nose without you realising it – something that is often true of our kitchen staples.
While plenty have praised white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, and lemon, there’s another item hiding in your kitchen cupboard that could prove just as useful when cleaning.
The experts at , a London-based rubbish removal company, are now recommending cornstarch, arguing that it’s the perfect product to use for removing grease stains.
They explained: “Not only can it be used for its mildly abrasive properties similarly to bicarbonate of soda, but its absorbency also allows it soak up moisture and lift stains, making it extremely useful in the home.
“For grease stains on clothing and other fabrics, simply spread a scoop of cornstarch over the stain and let it sit for approximately 12 hours before washing the garment.

And it’s not just cornstarch that’s useful when cleaning; the pros have also recommended adding some olive oil to your cleaning routine.
While olive oil isn’t a particularly good replacement for classic cleaning sprays and pastes, it is a great solution for jobs that require any additional conditioning and polishing.

Olive oil is another kitchen staple that can be used when cleaning
Olive oil is the perfect choice when cleaning stainless steel surfaces and appliances.
Using a dab of olive oil on a microfibre cloth can help remove fingerprints, brighten shine, and reduce the appearance of any scratches.
Other materials in the home that may benefit from some olive oil TLC are leather, such as sofas and chairs that are looking a little worn, and wood, such as dried out chopping boards and wooden spoons.
