The late is said to have previously made a cheeky joke when someone commented on his wife’s beautiful soft complexion.
Prince Philip and , who shared four children including the now-King Charles, were married for 73 years until his death aged 99 in April 2021. The late Queen died aged 96 in September 2022.
Royal expert Jennie Bond previously spoke of the late couple’s marriage – and revealed what Prince Philip had said in response to the comment.
As reported by the , she said: “Their love just grew and grew through their 70 years together. He was a very handsome young man when they met – a naval cadet in uniform, tall, blond, a Greek god, really.
“She loved him, and I think he loved her very much. It was a romance that endured until the very end.”

She added: “I remember once, someone complimented the Queen on her beautiful soft complexion and Philip cheekily said: ‘Yes, and she’s like that all over, you know!’”
Prince Philip is known to have made many controversial jokes during his time in the Firm.
In 1959, when the late Queen was pregnant with , he reportedly said: “People want their first child very much. They want the second almost as much. If a third comes along they accept it as natural, even if they haven’t gone out of their way for it.”
According to a royal insider, Philip once hid the Queen’s pet corgis as a joke to impress a dinner guest. Previously speaking to Express.co.uk, an insider said: “Philip hid a corgi in a desk cupboard and when the Queen asked him where it was, he said he didn’t know. But then the dog whined after hearing the Queen’s voice, so Philip let it out and it ran to her.”
After being told by wife to “stop showing off to guests”, the source added that he “turned to the guest and said ‘who does she think she is?’”
