Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson has three years to settle debt or ‘risks selling house’

actor Simon Gregson, known for his role as Steve McDonald, may be forced to sell his home if he fails to repay a £252,000 loan taken from his production company. Official documents reveal that Gregson and his wife Emma are required to pay back £1,500 per month to Simon Gregson Productions.

Despite the paperwork indicating that the couple, who have been for 14 years and share three sons, are no longer together, sources from maintain that they are still happily married. The report stipulates that they have three years to settle the , failing which they would have to sell their family home.

It states: “The Director had an overdrawn loan account of £252,824. The analysis also revealed that this money was removed from the Company’s bank account and paid into Mr Gregory’s joint bank account with his estranged wife. Therefore, any claim would be addressed to both individuals.”

In 2023, Gregson liquidated Simon Gregson Productions Ltd, leaving debts of £165,000 to and Coutts bank for a bounceback loan. Last year, it was disclosed that he was selling his office equipment in an attempt to clear his debts, offering the furniture plus £6,000 in cash towards settling some of his dues.

An initial report stated: “Due to the age and condition of the equipment it is anticipated any realisations will be minimal.”, reports  

The cast has been in motion as veterans Bill Roache, Michael Le Vell, and Sally Dynevor have penned one-year deals to remain on the iconic street. This trio’s commitment brings some stability to the show following the surprise departure of Colson Smith, who portrayed Craig Tinker for an impressive 14 years, and Charlotte Jordan, who is exiting her role as Daisy Midgeley.

Meanwhile, Helen Worth bade farewell to her role as Gail Platt after five decades, with Sue Cleaver (famed for playing Eileen Grimshaw) similarly taking leave. Joining them are Luca Toohan (Mason Radcliffe) and Sue Devaney (Debbie Webster), who have seen their characters’ stories conclude.

Living legend Bill Roache, who holds the title of the globe’s most enduring TV soap actor, having brought Ken Barlow to life since the very beginning in 1960, started on a humble salary of £70 weekly but is now believed to pocket a staggering £250,000 annually. Undeterred by his 92 years, Roache has fixed sights on a remarkable goal, saying: “My aim is to be 100 and still working on . While they want me and while I can do it I’ll continue to do it.”

Michael Le Vell, 60, debuted on the ‘cobbles’ in 1983 as Kevin Webster, the local mechanic, and he’s set to face harrowing times ahead with a testicular cancer storyline that will inevitably put a strain on his relationship with Abi, played by Sally Carmen.
