looks set to bucket down on areas across the UK later this month following a snowfall barrage over recent days.
The has issued . Schools have been forced to close and some flights have been grounded at major UK airports.
Now the latest from shows parts of Scotland being hammered with as much as 18cm of snow per hour on January 23.
That day, Scotland appears to be entirely covered in purple and white blobs, indicating snow depths (in cm) and snow fall (in cm/hour).
In some areas, snow mounds are expected to be as deep as 18cm.

Later in the day, London and Southampton could also see snowfall, as may Plymouth and other areas around the southwest coast, where rain is also possible.
In addition, much of Wales and all of Northern Ireland face the possibility of snowfall too, the maps suggest.
The snow covered areas continue down into northern England, with major cities including Newcastle, , Belfast and Cardiff braced for the flakes to fall.
The ‘s long range forecast says from the 23rd to Thursday, February 6, high pressure “may initially dominate, especially in the south, bringing quiet, grey, and cool conditions here”.

“Northern parts are more-likely to be unsettled but milder,” is adds.
“This pattern will likely spread across the whole UK by the end of the period, leading to milder conditions with periods of rain and strong winds more widely.
Meanwhile, various weather warnings are in currently effect with temperatures dropping far below freezing in some areas.
