Tourists given urgent warning about ‘Muggers’ Alley’ in popular Spanish city

Brits heading to have been issued an urgent warning to be careful on a particular street in .

Tourists should know that when they’re exploring a foreign country to keep an extra close eye on their safety.

Now one user – @harrytokky – has claimed holidaymakers risk their trips being spoiled by pickpockets in “Muggers’ Alley” in the holiday hotspot adored by thousands.

He said that the path between a block of flats and a police station off Calle Verona, in sight of the popular Morgan’s Tavern, is frequented by muggers and sex workers.

Harry urged people to “be careful” when walking down the alley late at night and to “stay safe”.

Express.co.uk has been unable to get up to date crime figures for the road and has approached local police and the council for comment.

Another TikToker also warned people to stay away. User @Benidorm_Grumet advised: “Walk round where the bins are, cross the road and you’ll be fine, believe me.”

He added in his caption that the muggers supposedly “don’t bother women, only drunk males”.

Commenters gave their experiences of muggings and pickpockets in the Spanish city, with one man saying: “I’ve stayed in the hotel beside it and seen plenty of muggings from the window. It’s notorious for it.”

Another user offered additional advice, telling others to avoid another area.

They said: “Road near Buddies [bar] too at top of square. Path to Tiki Beach at night and Yellow Brick Road at night. After midnight [the] beach [is] not safe.”

“Been like that for years in that spot,” one person said.

Another said: “The vendors that try and get you in the pubs too are an absolute nuisance. No rush to go back.”

“And that’s why I won’t be back,” one said in response to Benidorm_Grumet’s tip. Others detailed their own grim experiences in the area, backing up his warning.

A tourist said: “My hubby was targeted there a few weeks ago, he only sat in the park… prostitutes practically had there hands in his pockets.”

Another detailed a similar tale, adding: “We saw a drunk bloke – she grabbed him started kissing him then took stuff out his back pockets then walked off. We said you just been robbed he said yeh wallets gone and phone.”

One user recalled: “When I arrived last week in the afternoon, some women had her hand in my bag as I was getting my case off coach.”

Other commenters pointed out another Benidorm road that’s known for its muggings – a street nicknamed the Yellow Brick Road, near Rio Park.
