Field + Stream reunion re-release: A multi-winged musical phoenix from the bygone era of Whyte Avenue’s Wunderbar, local rock band F+S is back at Aviary Friday night with some mighty merch in what’s sure to be a sweet party.
Don’t miss this!
Wyrdstock: With a way wider map than merely the ever-expanding Happy Beer Street, this rover-friendly, weeks-long suds-sipper quest kicked off Wednesday.
Basically, the local brewmeister community has venue by venue created specific, weirdo batches of beer — an avocado stout at Southbound, for example — and there’s a passport to collect stamps.
If you buy something — doesn’t have to be boozy — at 16 of them, you can trade it in for a special pint glass at Analog Brewing Company. If you get all 19, you literally get a Medal of Absolute Coolness, so prepare your best Chewbacca roar for the occasion.
The venues include Alley Kat, Bentstick, Longroof, Odd Company, Southbound and many more — head to wyrdbier.ca for all the details. And please take your time, party patrol — no prizes will be given out until Jan. 17!
Harcourt openings: Two shows open at Harcourt House Friday night!
In the main gallery, we find Andrzej Maciejewski’s suite of 18 autobiographical photographic diptychs called Ephemeral Fields, which explore 23 small notebooks the artist’s father left behind after being diagnosed with schizophrenia and taking his life 50 years ago.
Both shows are clearly heartfelt and look terrific.
Details: 7 p.m. Friday opening, running through Feb. 22 at Harcourt House (third floor of 10215 112 St.), by donation
