A driver said to be channelling Jim Carrey’s iconic character has been reported for an “unacceptable” manoeuvre on the roads.

The unnamed motorist gained social media notoriety after Merseyside  pulled over the Mercedes driver whose recklessness resulted in their car being taken off the road.

A from the department’s Roads Policing Unit included a photo of the vehicle, which featured icy windows following a week of cold weather across the UK. Police warned other drivers not to follow suit.

The post read: “Just when you think you have seen it all! This vehicle was being driven exactly as you see it in the picture with the driver hanging out of the window Ace Ventura style. We didn’t think we needed to say it, but that is simply not acceptable and the driver has been reported.”

Police later uploaded an image of Police Dog Mo parodying the driver’s antics.

Alongside the photo, they commented, “Can you believe it! We have just been in the yard and caught @MerPolDogs Police Dog Mo, doing exactly the same thing as he gets the cars ready for patrol. No extra treats tonight and an educational talking to from his handler!”

The posts – which make reference to the moment Jim Carrey’s legendary character, Ace Ventura, sticks his head out from a shattered windshield – were widely shared on the platform.

One social media user quipped: “Blimey, only in the UK would someone drive like they’re auditioning for the next Ace Ventura reboot. Next time, mate, maybe just use the windscreen wipers, yeah?”

Don’t miss…

While the Mercedes’ windshield remained intact, it was completely obscured by snow, drawing attention from concerned officers at the scene.

Others took to social media in disbelief with one person asking: “This isn’t parody?” and another user commented: “Dear God, what possesses some people? Madness.”

The discussion didn’t stop there, as many were astonished not just at the windshield but also by how minimally some drivers clear their vehicles of snow.

A person remarked: “Worst I’ve seen (aside from this) is people who clear away a square to look out of.”

Another added: “You know what, who amongst us has not driven a car with just a small pane of visibility right above the dash causing us to duck our head to see the road? “.
