Keir Starmer is set to have a cosy tête-à-tête with Emmanuel Macron as the two under-pressure leaders brace for ‘s return to the White House.

The Prime Minister and the French President will hold talks over dinner at Chequers.

The official agenda of the meeting includes discussions on , tackling illegal migration, and Artificial Intelligence.

But Sir Keir and Mr Macron will also likely chat about ’s repeated interventions into British and European politics.

Dealing with Mr Trump’s second term as US President, which is due to begin on 20 January, will be high on their list of topics too.

Both Sir Keir and the embattled French President have endured a turbulent few months.

The Labour leader has faced a disastrous first six months in No 10 with the economy in turmoil and his poll ratings plummeting.

Mr Macron was plunged into a fresh political crisis last month when Michel Barnier resigned as French PM after losing a no confidence vote.

The two leaders joined forces this week as they both hit back at Musk, the world’s richest man and a close ally of Mr Trump.

It was reported on Thursday that the Tesla boss has privately discussed how Sir Keir could be ousted as Prime Minister before the next general election.

He is said to have held talks with allies about the prospect of forcing Sir Keir out of No 10.

It follows his barrage of attacks on the Labour Government on his social media platform X.

A source told the Financial Times: “His view is that Western civilisation itself is threatened.”

Mr Musk, who will have a major role in Trump’s administration, has become increasingly vocal on British politics in recent months amid an ongoing war of words with the PM.

The SpaceX boss has posted hundreds of times on social media about UK grooming gangs.

In response to Labour’s opposition to calls for a new national inquiry into the issue, Mr Musk called Sir Keir “Starmtrooper” and accused him of trying to cover up “terrible things”.

He later said the rejection in the Commons of a Tory bid for another probe was “unbelievable.”

He has also used X to call for Sir Keir to be replaced as Labour leader or for a new election in Britain.

Mr Musk expressed support for Reform UK and met leader and treasurer Nick Candy at ‘s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida in December.

But the X owner later turned on Mr Farage over his refusal to back far-right activist Tommy Robinson.

Mr Macron has slammed Musk for”’directly intervening” in elections around the world, including Germany after the businessman expressed support for the hard-Right Alternative for Germany (AfD).

Sir Keir has sought a close relationship with Mr Macron since entering No10 and travelled to Paris in November to attend a French service on Armistice Day.

He was the first British PM to attend the events since Winston Churchill in 1944.

This will be their 7th meeting since Sir Keir won the election.

The PM is pursuing a “reset” of the UK’s post- relationship with the EU and could use his dinner with Mr Macron to further his agenda ahead of his informal summit with the bloc’s 27 leaders next month.

This will come a week before Mr Macron hosts an AI summit in Paris, to which Mr Trump and Mr Musk are being invited.
