Recalling the occasion in his highly controversial memoir Spare, shared how the royal’s had gathered together to celebrate the annual Trooping the Colour to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday in 2018.

Revealing what was said, Harry wrote: “We returned just in time for the official June celebration of Granny’s birthday. Trooping the Colour: one of our first appearances as newlyweds. Everyone present was in a good mood, upbeat.”

He added: “But then: Kate asked Meg what she thought of her first Trooping the Colour. And Meg joked: Colourful.”

Harry went on to describe how the response was met. He said: “And a yawning silence threatened to swallow us all whole.”

During an earlier juncture in the book, the Prince revealed some of the first interactions he and had with Kate, who turns 43 today (Thursday, January 9) and William as a couple, writing:”Kate seemed to like her too.

“We’d had them over for dinner during one of Meg’s visits, and Meg cooked, and everything was good. Willy had a cold: he was sneezing and coughing, and Meg ran upstairs to get him some of her homeopathic cure-alls.

“Oregano oil, turmeric. He seemed charmed, moved, though Kate announced to the table that he’d never take such unconventional remedies.”

Five years have passed since Harry and Meghan announced their dramatic exit from the Royal Family speculation has continued to flourish regarding the relationship between the two couples. It was reported last year that after King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer that his youngest son made a brief return home to the UK, but did not take the oppurtunity to visit his older brother.

As Kate celebrates her 43rd birthday today, the last 12 months mark some of the toughest that the future queen has ever had to face, having announced the shocking news last March that she had been diagnosed with cancer and would be starting a course of chemotherapy.

Much to the delight of her supporters, just six months after announcing the sad news, she confirmed that she was cancer free following treatment.
