One critic has issued an apology to Meghan Markle
Journalist Liz Jones has issued a rare apology to following her heartbreaking post about the death of her beloved dog, Guy.
Earlier this week, Meghan shared the devastating news – opening up that she’d cried “too many tears to count”. Alongside a message to her “sweet Guy”, Meghan shared a video with clips and pictures of him.
Writing in her recent column for the , Liz said: “Noooooooo! Oh Meghan, my heart goes out to you. I did love you; I supported you, but you made me angry with the revealing red red carpet dress, the wet look hair, the lack of elegance.
“Your new lost-grip-of-reality TV show has left me cold, as it brims with artifice and inauthenticity and controlling, never possible perfection.”
However, issuing Meghan an apology, she shared her condolences to the former actress, writing, “But I am so, so sorry. Grief is the great leveller. It brings us all closer again.”

She added: “You do have a heart, I can see it in your love for the little chap, who I am sure ran you ragged over the years (there are actual beagle support groups, given their naughtiness), but who I am certain has been a huge support when you have suffered so much abuse, been through so much change.”
Apologising again, she wrote: “So, I’m very sorry Meghan. Everyone out there with a dog in their lives will hug them a little closer today… And so I reach out a consoling hand to you, too… rest in peace, little tan and white chap.”
Meghan adopted Guy in 2015, the year before she met . In her social media post, Meghan shared how he had been with her through “the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort”.
As well as sweet pictures and videos with Guy, Meghan also shared some of her children – Archie, five, and Lilibet, three – with him.

Archie and Harry are also seen walking the adorable dog in one clip shared in the sweet tribute.
Speaking during a WellChild Awards conference call in 2022, Harry briefing spoke of Guy. He said, “I’ve got three [dogs] in this house now, so we basically have five children. I’ve got a black Labrador called Pula, a rescue beagle called Guy and we’ve got another rescue beagle called Mia.
“Between the three of them, they drudged around chasing the squirrels every day, but they are also emotional support dogs when they’re behaving.”
