Not long after stepping back from the British Swimming Championship to focus on his mental health and deal with alcohol-related issues, Peaty has been open about his personal challenges and the “self-destructive spiral” he faced.
Finding support in his fiancee Holly Ramsay, daughter of the renowned chef Gordon Ramsay, Peaty has also grown close to his future father-in-law. On the High Performance podcast, host Jake Humphrey shared Ramsay’s heartfelt words sent via text regarding Peaty.
“I want you to know he’s an amazing young man with such a great attitude,” Ramsay expressed. “Honestly, I could not ask for a more down-to-earth, respectable future son-in-law. What he’s achieved is incredible and he’s not done yet. Looking forward to catching up soon.”
Peaty, upon hearing Ramsay’s message, was visibly moved and struggled to contain his emotions. “That makes me emotional, I don’t want to cry on the podcast, but it makes me very emotional,” said Peaty, reports .

He went on to admire the balance that Ramsay himself maintains between his professional success, family, love, children, and marriage.
Olympic champion Adam Peaty has expressed his admiration for Gordon Ramsay’s influence in his life, praising the chef as a great mentor and father-in-law. Chatting with The Sunday Times, Peaty shared thoughts on Gordon’s role in preparing him for future Olympic challenges.
He said: “I love how he’s already signing me up for LA [Olympics in 2028) but he’s a great father-in-law. Hopefully, next year…we already call it father-in-law and mother-in-law.”
Delving deeper into their relationship, the swimmer gushed over Gordon’s down-to-earth personality and guiding presence. “He’s also very down to earth with what he’s done and a great guide. Another blessing for me to look up to. Someone like him and Tana as well as my own parents, who give their perspective on my life, and it’s very important, going forward, that you have those people.”

Peaty admires Ramsay’s no-nonsense attitude, work ethic, and consistent professionalism in the highly competitive culinary world. “He worked his way up to the upper echelons of his industry and works in a place where there’s no bull***. I take a lot from that and from the professionalism he has every single day with a relentless pursuit.”
The sports star also reflected on the personal growth he has experienced by observing Gordon’s disciplined lifestyle. “So, when I see that, I’m like, ‘Yeah, why can’t I work like this? Why can’t I do this every single day? Why do I have to be so emotionally engaged with things? ‘”.
