When it comes to having a lovely in your home, there is one breed – according to trainer Will Atherton – that people simply shouldn’t own.

While there are 223 purebred breeds in the UK, Will is against the Caucasian Shepherd being a pet at all.

“The Caucasian Shepherd [is] absolutely beautiful, regal [and] powerful,” Will began. “But [the breed] belongs out in the wilderness, protecting flocks from extreme predators, like bears and wolves.”

Will added: “They very rarely make good pets, and that is not the kind of energy that I would bring into my family with young children.”

The Caucasian Shepherd isn’t the only breed that Will admitted he wouldn’t personally own. Rather surprisingly, Matt is against having a Cocker Spaniel or Springer Spaniel as a pet.

Im wondering if any trainers out there that have genuinely actually worked with lots of breeds are brave enough to comment the 3 breeds theyd never own…..

He explained: “I absolutely love watching them work out in the field when I’m with my Labrador, or out hunting.

“However, bringing that energy into the home is not a good fit for me because I want a dog that can settle down and switch off.”

Pointing towards his Labrador on , who just happens to be lounging on the sofa, Will implied that it’s unlikely he would see that from a Cocker or Springer Spaniel.

Another dog breed Will wouldn’t own is the Siberian Husky, even though he admitted: “I’ve had one before. Never again.”

The comments section of the social media platform quickly filled up with people disagreeing with what Will said.

One contrarian wrote: “I have had eight Springer Spaniels over the years and just couldn’t disagree more! They are wonderful dogs to work with as well as having a pet. It is all about training and enrichment.”

However, one pet owner confessed: “My Cocker Spaniel is crazy chasing everything when he is outside.” Yet, added: “But, in the house, he is very calm.”

As for the Siberian Husky dog breed, one owner said: “As a first-time dog owner we stepped in deep with two huskies… it’s crazy, don’t do it people.” Another agreed: “Had a husky at one point. It’s a no for me.”
