and ‘s decision to step down as senior working royals as been deemed as the “right thing for the monarchy” by royal fans.
On January 8, 2020, Harry and Meghan shocked the world by announcing their plans to step down from royal duties.
In their statement, which was shared on their then-joint , Harry and Meghan wrote: “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
In a poll conducted by , which ran from 5am on January 7 to 10.55am on January 8, showed that to step down – especially when it comes to that of the affect on the Royal Family.
A majority of 57 percent [1,413 votes] of the 2,500 people who voted shared that the couple did the right thing, compared to 39 percent [984 votes] who said that they did not make the right move.

In limbo, four percent [103 votes] of those who voted shared that they were undecided on whether the move was a good or a bad thing for the pair.
Taking to the comment section, one fan commented: “I think it was best for the Monarchy and for the public that they went.”
Speaking of the Royal Family, another wrote: “They were morally wrong for acting the way they did. However, from my point of view, I am glad they walked away.”
A third commented: “Yes, they were right to step down as working royals. Both of them are not fit to be royals or represent this country and commonwealth, there actions have proved this.”

Shortly after stepping back, the couple moved to America with their now-five-year-old son Archie. After moving, Meghan and Harry signed a major five-year deal with .
The couple have since used their newfound freedom away from royal restraints to verbally attack members of the Royal Family – all of which first began during their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
