TV chef Dean Edwards has shared a low-calorie Chinese fakeaway.
Many people often find themselves reaching for the phone and ordering a takeaway when they don’t fancy cooking or want a treat.
But television chef Dean Edwards has a low-calorie Air Fryer he swears by that can replace a popular Chinese takeaway dish. Dean, who regularly appears on ITV’s Lorraine, says pork and black bean noodles don’t even need to be cooked in a pan.
On Channel 5’s The Air Fryer Diet: Lose Weight, Cook Fast, he explained: “Forget the wok, this is just as quick and even tastier.”
He added: “It costs a fraction of getting a takeaway and, as a bonus, it’s healthier too.”
Here’s how Dean makes his airfryer fakeaway treat:

Dean’s dish can be made in an Air Fryer
Method
-
Dean says the first step is to put the pork mince in the Air Fryer drawer with diced onion. He explains: “This is absolutely jam-packed full of flavour and because it has a little bit of fat in it already, we don’t need to add any additional oils.”
-
Secondly, Dean adds the de-seeded and diced pepper into the Air Fryer drawer. Before adding the garlic and ginger paste.
-
He then stirred the ingredients together and cooked them for 12 minutes on 200C. He says this gives the pork time to caramelise.
-
Once the pork has cooked slightly, he adds black bean paste, beef stock and honey into the Air Fryer drawer.
-
Finally he adds dark soy sauce into the mixture and cooks at 200C for five minutes.
-
Once the mixture is cooked, Dean adds a nest of cooked egg noodles, which is good for portion control. They are then mixed into the pork Air Fryer drawer with a pair of tongues until coated in the sauce.
-
Once plated Dean tops the dish with spring onions.
