Toyota is the most popular car across the world
, and have topped the list of for the second successive year.
New analysis from car insurance experts at have revealed the most popular brand in every country with the three sweeping away the competition in 2024.
Toyota came in first place with the model found to be in 64 countries across the globe.
Tesla was second, with 34 countries as the top choice, followed by BMW, with 30 countries picking the German marque as the machine to have.
The top-three is identical to last year, with Toyota and BMW featuring in the first three positions every year since 2018.
The most searched car brands have been unveiled
said: “In 2023, Toyota was the number one brand in 64 countries – and that hasn’t changed this year.
“However, Tesla has risen from being the number one brand in 29 countries in 2023 to 34 in 2024, closing the gap on the Japanese auto giant.
“Coming in at third once again was BMW, which also made gains – rising from being number one in 26 countries in 2023 to 30 in 2024.
“There were improvements across the rest of the pack with Fiat, Hyundai, Nissan, Honda, Chevrolet, Mazda, Peugeot and Suzuki all improving, while Kia and Mercedes-Benz saw declines.”

It’s Compare the Market’s seventh annual edition of the Most Searched Car Brands report which is published every January.
In the UK, Tesla came out on top with Elon Musk’s EV superpower also topping the leaderboard across much of Europe such as France, Germany and Russia.
Tesla also topped the bill in the United States and Canada while also picking up success in Africa,
BMW was popular in Europe with the vehicle found to be the most searched-for car brand in Spain and much of Eastern Europe.
Although, Toyota was the most dominant brand across most of Africa while also picking up wins in Greenland and in parts of South America.
Compare the Market added: “The other brands will have to do something really special to replace Toyota as the most searched car brand online.
“Toyota has a great pedigree and reputation for reliability, with a wide range of models to suit buyers.”
