The 39-year-old White Rock native was named a CFL and West Division all star for a second-straight season
The B.C. Lions have signed veteran kicker Sean Whyte to a one-year contract extension, the CFL club announced Tuesday.
The 39-year-old from White Rock led the league with a 94.3-per-cent field goal success rate (50 of 53) and earned the West Division nomination for outstanding special teams player.
Whyte also increased his career points total to 2,116, nine behind Terry Baker for 10th on the CFL’s all-time scoring list, and became the league’s most accurate kicker in history at 88.4 per cent.
He was named a CFL and West Division all star for a second-straight season.
Whyte made his first 29 field goals of the season to set a new club record of 47 in a row dating back to 2023. Paul McCallum previously held that mark.
Whyte began his CFL career with the Lions in 2009 and has also played for Montreal and Edmonton.
