Zendaya and Tom Holland are reportedly engaged.
Speculation of an engagement began after Zendaya appeared at the Golden Globes on Jan. 5 wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger.
TMZ and People reported the engagement Jan. 6, the day after the Globes, citing sources close to the couple. TODAY.com has reached out to Zendaya and Holland for comment and has not heard back at the time of publication.
Zendaya was nominated at the Golden Globes her role in “Challengers.” Holland did not attend the awards show.
At the Golden Globes, fans and reporters captured moments that appeared to point to an engagement.
According to the Los Angeles Times’ live blog, an engaged L.A. Times reporter held up her own left ring finger to Zendaya and pointed at it, to which Zendaya “responded by flashing her own bling on her left hand, doing a sort of jazz-fingers motion.”
The L.A. Times reporter then asked Zendaya if she was engaged, to which the actor “kept showing her ring, smiled coyly and shrugged her shoulders mysteriously.”
Zendaya’s jewelry also offered a clue into the engagement.
Most of the jewelry Zendaya donned at the Golden Globes came from Bulgari, according to an Instagram post by the luxury brand. But Bulgari only took credit for the ring on her right hand, leaving the one on her left hand a mystery.
Meanwhile, social media users reacted to what appeared to be a soft launch of the engagement with excitement.
“streets are saying zendaya is engaged and suddenly life is worth living,” one fan tweeted.
HBO Max joined the conversation, tweeting a scene from the HBO show “Euphoria” when Zendaya’s character Rue is asked, “When was this?” Her character responds, “Right after New Year’s.” Alongside this scene, Max posted images of Zendaya on the red carpet, focusing in on her ring.
“I have never, ever been happier,” the streaming service captioned the post.
The couple first sparked dating rumors after they both appeared in the 2017 movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” After years of denying a relationship, they were photographed kissing in a car in 2021. Since then, the pair has kept their love life relatively private, though they have been open with their affection.
Zendaya posted a happy birthday post to Holland in 2022, captioning it, “Happiest of birthdays to the one who makes me the happiest.”
Holland and Zendaya both have spoken about their futures, including plans for kids and marriage, in recent interviews.
Holland told Men’s Health in a Jan. 2 interview that he’ll be more focused on family than his career once kids come into the picture.
“When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,” he told the outlet. “Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.”
Zendaya, in 2024, told Entertainment Weekly she hopes to have children and get married, and will take roles that align with her life experiences.
