phone maker OnePlus has beaten by announcing the OnePlus 13 high-end smartphone 15 days before the launch of the .

in San Jose but OnePlus has pipped its rival to the post, unveiling the OnePlus 13 and mid-range OnePlus 13R, which are available to pre-order now for UK phone buyers.

Starting at £899, the OnePlus 13 is a bold-looking device with a flat 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED display, unlike the OnePlus 11 and , which opted for curved edge screens. It comes in matt glass black or white, or a special blue version which the company claims is the first phone to use microfibre vegan leather.

On the back is a distinctive circular camera cut-out with triple lenses. OnePlus has continued its partnership with legendary camera brand Hasselblad, promising “significant upgrades in mobile photography and videography”. A 50MP main camera joins a 50MP 3x optical zoom lens and 50MP ultra-wide, a promising set up on paper.

It wouldn’t be 2025 without a bit of AI thrown in for good measure. OnePlus says you can zoom at 10x which will activate an AI mode for detailed snaps despite using digital zoom.

“The triple-camera system incorporates an innovative Dual Exposure Algorithm, delivering sharp, vibrant images even in fast-paced scenarios,” the company added, promising clear results even if your subject is moving.

The OnePlus 13 is powered by the , one of the first phones available in the UK with the latest premium processor from Qualcomm. The 256GB model has 12GB RAM while the £999 512GB version has 16GB. This makes the device ideal for the most demanding of mobile gamers but should also mean the phone is zippy for years and has improved battery life. OnePlus also offers incredibly quick 80W fast charging, but for the first time the company has opted not to include a charger in the box, which is disappointing.

You’ll get Android 15 with OnePlus’s clean OxygenOS 15 skin on top, with new animations as you flick around the phone. There’s also Google’s handy Circle to Search, which lets you circle anything on the screen to perform a Google search, and other AI tools such as translation, summarising of notes and text in various apps, and AI to edit your photos to unblur them or remove reflections.

If £899 is too rich for your blood there’s also the £679 OnePlus 13R. It has last year’s still-excellent Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 12GB RAM, ensuring it’ll be a very fast device too. It has a similar 6.78-inch screen, a huge 6,000mAh battery and the same 80W fast charging. With a similar design, it’s hard to tell 13R apart from the 13, but the lack of Hasselblad branding on the back is a clue.

The 13R’s cameras should still be pretty good though, with a 50MO main and 50MP 2x zoom, though the 8MP ultra-wide will likely be a little ropey.

Both phones will receive four years of Android OS updates and six years of security updates to keep things ticking over until 2031.

You can pre-order the OnePlus 13 today, while orders for the OnePlus 13R will start on 10 January.
