ITV’s Good Morning Britain halted by Ranvir Singh for tragic breaking news update

was interrupted this morning for a tragic breaking news announcement. Ranvir Singh announced that an earthquake had devastated part of China, with more than 50 people thought to be dead.

The explained: “Now for some breaking news, some international news. At least 53 people have died and dozens others injured in a strong earthquake in Tibet.

“The initial earthquake was around seven on the richter scale, near the holy city of Shigatse.” She added: “Tremors were also felt in Nepal’s capital, , as well as Bhutan and northern India.”

As the presenter spoke, the ITV show displayed footage of the area as the trembling could be visably seen. According to reports, the earthquake hit Tibet’s holy Shigatse city around 9am local time (1am GMT) with a magnitude of 7.1 and a depth of 10 kilometres (six miles).

Southwestern parts of China, Nepal and northern India are frequently hit by earthquakes caused by the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Chinese President said all-out search and rescue efforts should be carried out to minimise casualties, properly resettle the affected people, and ensure a safe and warm winter.

It is believed that more than 1,500 local firefighters and rescue workers have been dispatched to the affected areas, with cotton tents, cotton coats, quilts and folding beds having also been sent to the quake-hit region.

On yesterday’s (January 6) episode of the ITV show, Andi Peters angered fans with a change of locations. and Ed Balls had been at the helm of GMB from the normal studio when they cut over to the competition host on the other side of the world.

The competition host was sharing what could be up for grabs if viewers entered the show’s daily game.

But fans at home were too busy being distracted by the changes to notice the dazzling prizes on offer, as Andi announced that he was actually in South Australia.

Posting to social media, namely X/Twitter, one viewer asked: “@GMB Why do GMB have to fly Andi Peters to South Australia to present a competition. ???”
