Escape to the Country’s Jules Hudson quickly spotted a major issue just minutes into viewing a couple’s dream home after they had appeared on the show a few months earlier.
During Tuesday’s (January 7) episode of the spin-off show I Escaped to the Country, Jules retraced his steps in Bedfordshire and reunited with William and Carol.
At the time, the couple fell in love with a thatched cottage that was thought to be around 400 years old. On the ground floor, there was a large, fully tiled shower room, which was one of the reasons they wanted to purchase the home.
Just under a year later, Jules visited the couple, but minutes into walking inside the house, the star was quick to spot a huge transformation with a major problem.
Walking into a bedroom, Jules noticed that something had changed as William revealed that it used to be the bathroom.

He said: “So you remember the bathroom?” Jules was in complete shock as he replied: “I do now, yes”
William explained: “It’s now a bedroom with a bathroom en-suite.” Turning their attention to the walls, Carol jumped: “The delightful gentleman who comes to do the building work allows William to help.”
It was clear that William has been getting stuck into the renovation but it hasn’t been an easy ride as he went on to say: “I’ve learned some new skills doing it but I might draw on your expertise in wood craft to make a curved skirting board.”
Don’t miss…
Jules retraced his steps in Bedfordshire and reunited with William and Carol.
Looking down at the floor, Jules spotted that the skirting board was not done properly. He picked up the wood and pointed out, “We haven’t staged this. I’ve just spotted this. I can see where you’re going with it but I can definitely give you some top tips.”
The couple later revealed that they purchased the property for £750,000, which was below the £900,000 budget they had set out. The pair were left with a hefty amount of money to renovate the home.
Carol said: “We have had a nice amount of money to spend on the place.”
William revealed: “We’ve also got plans to extend at the back to build a utility room on the back or a dog room and word on that should start in a week’s time.”
