Ali also warned against lipsticks with any metallic shine or glitter. Even the creamiest formulas, she argued, can be problematic if they have a shiny or glittery finish.
She suggested that such formulas should be avoided altogether, describing them as a “big no-no.”

Ali offered a solution for those seeking to bring out fuller, more youthful lips
Despite these cautions, Ali offered a solution for those seeking to bring out fuller, more youthful lips. She recommended pairing matte lipstick in a neutral shade with a glossy finish.
“Just add gloss… it’s that simple!” she said, highlighting how easy it can be to boost lip volume with the right combination of texture and colour.
Of course, finding the perfect lipstick shade for mature skin requires careful thought, especially when it comes to choosing hues that complement one’s complexion.
Ali also warned against using certain muted shades, particularly nude lipsticks without a defined lip liner.
She explained: “One thing that doesn’t work for most of us after a certain age are statement nude lipsticks, with no lip liner. Lip liner we all know adds structure to your lips, but when you apply nude lipsticks, it takes the life away from your face immediately.”
Ali further advised that to avoid a dull look, mature lips should have a touch of colour and shine.
“I believe that after a certain age, if you’re not applying something that has a pinch of pink or peach and a little bit of shine, I just think it looks completely dull and adds unnecessary years again,” she said.
By making these thoughtful adjustments to your lipstick routine, Ali believes anyone can achieve a more youthful, vibrant lip look.
