Brits will need to wear an extra layer to bed on Wednesday evening as temperatures plummet to -10C by Thursday morning.

Manchester and its surrounding areas will be the worst hit in England as the ice blast plunges the city down to -10C, with surrounding towns seeing -9 to -6C. Scotland can expect similar figures as maps from WXCharts turn a deep shade of blue.
An average of -3 to -2C is predicted in the midlands, southwest and southwest of England at 5am on Thursday as Northern Ireland ranges between -1 to -5C.

Wales will see temperatures plummet to -8C in the north of the country as the south hovers around -3C.
Later into the day, 3pm shows the entire nation still blanketed in swathes of blue as figures stay below zero.
The polar blast will stick around until the weekend too as weather maps for Sunday show minus digits reaching -7C.
The southwest, Wales and Northern Ireland will see slightly higher figures by January 12 as Cornwall and Devon rise to 5C. Despite western Wales warming up to 6C, the majority of the country will stay in the subzero freeze.
From Somerset up to Scotland, the UK will retain its icy feel. London and the southeast can expect 0C at 9am on Sunday, as temperatures lower further up the country. In England, the lowest figure will be -7C near to Leeds, as the majority of Scotland hovers between -4 to -7C.

Their long range weather forecaster shows high pressure covering the weekend with generally unsettled prevailing. However, frontal systems may affect parts of the UK at times, these more likely towards the northwest of the UK, bringing some rain and windier conditions.
