Only Connect host Victoria Coren Mithell left fans scratching their heads when her appearance appeared to dramatically change in a matter of seconds live on air.
During Monday’s visit (January 6) to the studios, the 52-year-old broadcaster welcomed six new players onto the teatime show. The group were split into two teams to put their general knowledge to the test in an effort to take home the eye-watering cash prize.
The comedian opened the notoriously difficult quiz show as usual, where she looked as glamorous as ever. She could be seen sporting a fetching floral pink outfit and styled her golden long locks into a gorgeous blowout.
But things took an unexpected turn just minutes into the show, when Victoria shared a quip about getting AI to form a more exciting welcome for her.
She began: “Good evening. This week I invited the ’s in-house AI remarks generator to look beyond ordinary light entertainment, panel shows and quizzes and trawl other genres to come up with an introduction suitable for a big popular ratings hit. “

In the clip, her nails were clearly polished in a bright red as she spoke to the camera before she picked up her phone to read out the auto-generated introduction.
Victoria went on: “It came up with this, ‘Good evening and welcome to Connect-Enders, a world of bitter rivalries and long-running feuds. Where devious characters are forever coming and going, amid a bewildering maelstrom of Byzantine promiscuity’.”
As she held up her phone, her bold manicure was on full display, but in the next clip, the presenter had bare nails despite being in the same outfit.
It didn’t take long before eagle-eyed viewers caught on to the inconsistency as they flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their suspicions online.

One user penned: “Watching #onlyconnect on delay and in @VictoriaCoren’s intro she has red nails holding the phone, yet later with the question cards, no nail varnsh. The viewers of this show are far too observant and analytical to miss something like that continuity!!”
Another asked: “@VictoeiaCoren hang on, how long does it take to film a show. At the beginning you have red nails and then a few moments later they have gone #OnlyConnect.”
A third echoed: “Did anyone else notice Victoria’s nails?” After the show hit the airwaves, Coren Mitchell responded to one post, offering a potential explanation.
She penned: “What was the intro? There was one where I had to record a whole different start on a different day because I made a joke about Strictly which spooked the powers that be. Sounds like must have been this one!”
But this isn’t the first time the host has caused a stor online after another bizarre episode of the game show. Not one to shy away from an inappropriate joke, the mum-of-two recently quipped about her attraction to Michael Portillo.
As she signed off an episode last month, she quipped: “Coming up next on Two is another episode in that wonderful series sponsered by the RSPB, where celebrites look after birds before handing them on to other celebrities to raise awareness of struggling avian numbers.
“I have so enjoyed watching the big names of Two pasing their feathered dependents onto other presenters that I’ve decided to join in myself. Tonight, I will eagerly be taking several swallows from Michael Portillo.”
Viewers were gobsmacked by the racy joke, with many complaining online and one viewers going as far as to say they had been left “traumatised”.
