It appears Jeremy Strong’s viral Golden Globes bucket hat has gotten a royal co-sign from the Princess of Genovia herself.
Strong ignited a flurry of internet memes after the actor sported a mint green velvet bucket hat and matching Loro Piana suit at the award show on Sunday.
After social media users had a field day over the actor’s viral choice of fashion, Anne Hathaway joined the wave by jokingly accusing her former “Armageddon Time” co-star of copying her sense of style.
On Monday, Hathaway shared a photo of herself as Mia Thermopolis in 2001’s “The Princess Diaries,” in which she donned a similar bucket hat, albeit hers was gray. She included a snapshot of Strong from the Globes in the cheeky post for comparison.
“Sweetheart, I’m not mad you borrowed it but I didn’t totally realize you were going to change the col… anyway, not important, congrats on your well deserved nom for The Apprentice!!!,” she quipped in her caption.
Strong, who was nominated for his role as lawyer Roy Cohn in the Ali Abbasi-directed film “The Apprentice,” has not publicly responded to Hathaway’s comments.
HuffPost has reached out to Strong’s and Hathaway’s reps for comment.
Though Strong didn’t score the Globe for supporting actor in a film (that went to his “Succession” cast mate Kieran Culkin for “A Real Pain”), his “Apprentice” co-star Sebastian Stan won best actor in a musical or comedy film for his role in “A Different Man.”
