The Chatty Man tied the knot to Paul in 2018 but the couple decided to separate and file for divorce in 2022 after a 13-year relationship.

Over the past few years, Paul has battled with alcoholism and in 2022 he was nearly sent to jail after reversing into a police car with a high alcohol test reading.

At the time Alan claimed Paul’s abuse of alcohol was the “final straw” in an already strained relationship. Paul, who is now sober, is planning to release a tell-all book which Alan “knows will feature the good, the bad and the ugly” parts of their relationship.

A source told the Mail: “Alan knows that Paul is writing a book and obviously their relationship – the good, the bad and the ugly – will form a large part of the story.

“They were together for 13 years and had some fabulous times together as well as the well-documented problems. Paul is a very honest man and will give readers a warts and all picture of his life and won’t gloss over difficult subjects.”

Taking to to share footage of the moment, he penned a lengthy caption, describing the arrest as “the lowest period of his life.”

Paul, who previously admitted to punching himself in the eye following a drunken binge, recently marked three years since he was arrested for drink-driving by sharing a clip of the moment he was taken away by police.

He wrote: “Three years ago today I was arrested handcuffed and taken to Crawley police station. This is short edited clip of that day. (I still get anxiety watching this).

“What followed a catalogue of events that was nothing short of a nightmare! The officer said I was off my face and that I had revered my car into his. Both were untrue! I was a broken man on that day!

“It’s taking a lot of me to rebuild myself and a huge journey of self discovery whilst not using alcohol to cope or self medicate as I had done in the past.”

Referencing his book, he said: “I am currently writing my memoirs, which may be titled Take It On The Chin, where you will read the full story along with many other stories of my eventful and colourful life! Thank you all for your continuing love and support! It means the world!!”
