Premier League Darts chiefs told to shun two stars by rival over previous comments

has recently called on chiefs to exclude two players from the 2025 line-up because of their previous comments made about the competition.

Considered closer to an exhibition with the not a ranked major, some of the biggest names in the sport have opted against embracing its arrival since 2005.

Both and have spoken openly about not wanting to compete in a different European city for 16 weeks of the year, which culminates with the final at London’s O2 Arena.

The Welshman previously said that he “wasn’t sure” about competing, but that he would be “stupid” to turn down an invitation, with a total prize pool of £1million up for grabs – and the winner receiving £275,000.

Anderson competed in the competition for several years but claimed that he would turn down the chance of joining again, insisting: “I’m at the age now where I’ve done it, got the t-shirt, thank you very much but no.”

The Scotsman has repeatedly said that he no longer wishes to spend so much time travelling at the age of 54, opting to spend more time with his family.

Both Anderson and Price are some of the biggest names in darts, however, and with four places up for grabs, the want entertainers such as the pair involved.

, , and have already been confirmed due to their positions as the top four in the PDC Order of Merit.

But Aspinall, who competed in the last year, believes that Anderson and Price’s comments should see them shunned.

“You know what, it really grates on me (players saying they don’t want to play in the ),” Aspinall told last month.

“I’m really good mates with Gary Anderson, really good mates with Gerwyn Price, but if they don’t want it, don’t give it to them whether they deserve it or not.

“Why should they get that spot when people like myself, okay I’ve had a bad year and I don’t deserve it, but I want it and I will bring something.

“I will give 110 per cent every single night on that stage. If they can’t be arsed, why put them in? I just don’t get it. I don’t even know why the PDC would consider it. If they put them in it looks bad on the PDC in my opinion.”

Both names have been mentioned alongside Aspinall, , Dave Chisnall, Jonny Clayton, Damon Heta and Chris Dobey, with .
