The RHS warned that Japanese maples can be susceptible to cold winds
The Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum) has greens in spring and reds, oranges, and yellows in autumn, with the tree capable of thriving in Japanese and suburban gardens in both containers and the ground.
The RHS highlighted the variations, including some that are upright and others that are more spread out or cascade, with further colour variations including purple with yellow, pink or cream.
To ensure your home benefits from the maple, you should first place it somewhere where people will notice it, maybe by your entrance or somewhere where you can see it from your living spaces.
Secondly, you should ensure it strikes a balance among your other plants without making your spaces overcrowded. Finally, you should be careful with the tree’s soil, as they like well-drained soil and partial shade.
