criticised Prime Minister Sir after renewed attention was drawn to the Rotherham gang rape scandal, which occurred between 2008 and 2013 while Starmer served as head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
The former presenter responded to a series of tech billionaire posts, calling for accountability among Labour government members.
In one of his tweets, Musk stated: “In the UK, serious crimes such as rape require the CPS’s approval for the police to charge suspects. Who was the head of the CPS when rape gangs were allowed to exploit young girls without facing justice? , 2008-2013.”
Musk also criticised Jess Phillips, the UK safeguarding minister since July, for reportedly rejecting calls for a public inquiry into historic child abuse in Oldham, northwest England.

In response, Piers typed: “The Prime Minister must order a full no-holds-barred national inquiry into exactly what happened in the appalling gang rape scandal and who was accountable for such lengthy systemic failure of justice for the 1000s of victims, including his running of the CPS.”
The Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal revealed systematic failures that allowed the abuse of 1,400 children over 16 years.
Victims, many as young as 11, endured horrific abuse, including rape, trafficking, and violent intimidation. However, despite evidence and warnings from initiatives like “Risky Business”, authorities failed to act.
Rotherham scandal perpetrators, mainly men of Pakistani heritage, groomed, abused, trafficked children, predominantly young girls and they were often subjected to severe physical and emotional damage.
Victims were coerced through manipulation, threats, and violence, while their voices were repeatedly ignored or silenced by the authorities.

In 2014, an independent inquiry conducted by Professor Alexis Jay brought these serious crimes into the public spotlight. The findings of the Jay Report were startling and revealed that the abuse had continued unabated for over a decade.
In 2012, Starmer, who was the head of the CPS, admitted the justice system was flawed in handling sexual exploitation cases. He appointed Nazir Afzal, who prosecuted the perpetrators of sexual abuse in Rochdale.
Hours after Musk posted about the UK’s child grooming gangs, Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the main opposition Conservative Party, called for a national inquiry into the UK’s “rape gangs scandal”, saying that “2025 must be the year that the victims start to get justice”.
It comes as reports that suggest might plan to donate as much as $100m to the opposition fringe party Reform UK. The party’s leader, , met Musk last month at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.Musk has been targeting the Labour government since last summer’s anti-immigration riots in parts of the country.
