Luke Littler is the world darts champion, but the teenager is banned from buying darts
may well be a world darts champion, but the teenage sensation is banned from buying darts in UK shops due to an obscure law.
The 17-year-old cemented his status as one of Britain’s biggest sports stars after sealing his first PDC title with a 7-3 victory over Michael van Gerwen.
His since turning professional in 2024, marking his rapid rise to the top of darts.
The youngster has jumped into second behind world No 1 Luke Humphries in the PDC Order of Merit, which ranks darts players by their total prize money accumulated over a 12-month period, after scooping the lucrative £500,000 prize.

Despite his global recognition and champion status, Littler’s youth may well count against him if he needs to go shopping for more of his trusted arrows in the coming weeks.
Under UK law, it is illegal for retailers to sell age-restricted items to consumers under the age of 18.
The sharpness of a dart means it is categorised as a dangerous weapon like knives and razor-blade items.
Retailers face a fixed penalty of £80 and can be made to pay out up to £5,000 if they sell a set of darts to a minor over the counter – meaning Littler would be denied a sale under such legislation.

He also banked £42,500 from other Premier events during the 2024 season, and another £91,000 from his European Tour performances.
