Lily Allen has candidly discussed her feelings of loneliness following her reported split from . The 39 year old singer was discussing loneliness, mental health, and reaching out to friends on the Miss Me? podcast she co-hosts with her close friend Miquita Oliver.

As she addressed her mental wellbeing, Lily became visibly more emotional, as she explained why she doesn’t contact friends when she’s feeling down. Furthermore, she suggested that her hesitance stems from difficult times during the peak of her fame in the early 2000s.

Lily hinted that back then, when she confided in friends, she would often find her story had become public knowledge just days later. These two factors, Lily admitted, made opening up more challenging.

In response, co-host Miquita reassured Lily that there was nothing wrong with sharing her anxieties and fears with her friends. Lily confessed: “When I’m feeling lonely I cannot do the text. I just feel like when I’m feeling low and lonely, I feel like a burden.

“I don’t want to offload my s*** onto other people. I feel like ‘It’s ok, you can handle this, you can do this, you’ll get through this and then you’ll be back, and then you’ll be fun Lily again’.”, .

The star became visibly emotional as she confessed: “I think, also, there is, like, trauma from the noughties in that, when things were bad, or I felt guilt or shame around things that I didn’t want to tell people because I didn’t want it to end up in the papers…I feel like I can’t be honest about what’s going on in my life sometimes.”

Wrapping up the podcast episode, Lily told Miquita she was “only crying because I’m jet lagged”, prompting her friend to suggest she get some rest.

The candid revelation follows allegations that her husband David, 49, was spotted on a celebrity dating app.

Lily and David, who tied the knot in 2020 after meeting on the exclusive app Raya in 2019, are now facing rumours of marital strife. According to LBC, Lily created a fake profile to check if the ‘Stranger Things’ actor had reactivated his account, and reportedly found he’d been active for over a month.
