How Ariana Grande’s Golden Globes outfit pays homage to ‘Wicked’

Ariana Grande is revealing how her chic Golden Globes look subtly honored her “Wicked” character, Glinda.

During most of the press run and world premieres for “Wicked,” Grande has worn pink gowns. However, the 31-year-old decided to switch it up at the 2025 Golden Globes on Jan. 5, when she dressed in a strapless Givenchy Haute Couture gown from the fashion house’s 1966 collection.

Grande’s vintage, yellow dress featured a beaded bodice that sparkled on the red carpet.

While speaking to Variety, Grande revealed that her outfit paid homage to an iconic part of her blockbuster film and “The Wizard of Oz.”

“It’s yellow because ‘follow the yellow brick road,’” she explained, referencing a quote from the 1939 film.

Grande added, “And it’s one of Glinda’s favorite colors and here we are!”

She styled her hair in her signature high ponytail and slicked her bangs to the side.

A perfect accessory that could complete the look? A Golden Globes statue. Grande is hoping to become a Golden Globes winner on Jan. 5 as she is nominated for her performance in “Wicked” for best performance by a female actor in a supporting role.

The actor and singer is up against Selena Gomez (“Emilia Pérez”), Felicity Jones (“The Brutalist”), Margaret Qualley (“The Substance”), Isabella Rossellini (“Conclave”) and Zoe Saldaña (“Emilia Pérez”).

After learning last month that she received a nomination, Grande expressed her gratitude and shared her disbelief in a sweet message on her Instagram story.
