Gypsy Rose Blanchard has revealed that she doesn’t plan to share photos of her baby girl, Aurora, on social media.
The 33-year-old recently welcomed her first child with boyfriend Ken Urker. He shared the news of Aurora’s arrival on Instagram Jan. 1 with a sweet family photo. In the picture, Blanchard cradled Aurora in a hospital as Urker gently placed his hand on the newborn.
“Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all,” he gushed in the caption. But, Blanchard did not post about the birth of her daughter on her page.
On Jan. 6, she explained her silence in a statement on her Instagram story.
“To everyone asking, No, I will not be posting pictures of Aurora,” she wrote. “I understand everyone’s excitement and we appreciate the support, but we value the privacy and safety of our daughter.”
She added, “We continue to express love towards our supporters and thank you for following our journey,” and included a red heart.
In 2015, Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison for helping her then-boyfriend murder her allegedly abusive mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. She was released from prison early in December 2023.
She first announced her pregnancy in a YouTube video uploaded in July 2024 titled, “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far.”
“This was not planned at all. This was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood,” she said at the time. Blanchard also shared photos from a pregnancy announcement photoshoot with Urker on Instagram that have since been deleted.
In November, she told People that the couple had already picked out a name for their baby girl. “Ken and I were so excited to have a beautiful celebration that our daughter Aurora Raina Urker can look back on and see how our community welcomed and embraced her with love,” she said at her baby shower. “She will be supported and given all the happiness a child should experience.”
Blanchard spoke to People again last month and confirmed that Urker came up with their daughter’s name.
“There’s a whole backstory to it,” she said. “Some people think that it’s because of the Disney Princess.”
But, “Sleeping Beauty” did not inspire Aurora’s name.
Blanchard explained, “Back whenever Ken and I were together seven years ago, both of us have a fascination with the Northern Lights, and the proper term is the Aurora Borealis.”
