A pubgoer dressed up as a member of the KKK for a fancy dress party in Cornwall on New Year’s Eve.
Many people across the UK dress up for yet one man sparked total outrage amongst locals with his costume.
The Chiverton Arms, near Blackwater, in was hosting an 80s themed fancy dress night when one person showed up resembling the Ku Klux Klan – the extremist, white supremacist, far-right hate group.
Pictures taken inside the establishment show the individual wearing white sheets from head to toe, with eye holes cut out and a symbol of a cross on his head. The KKK is closely associated with cross burning and racial hatred.
The pub reportedly asked the person wearing the costume to remove it.
Members of the public who were at the pub that night have said they were “so angry and annoyed”.

Speaking to CornwallLive, they said: “We were in shock at first and couldn’t believe it. We spoke to a guy standing near us and he thought it was a game character as some people were dressed as Mario. No one seemed to take much notice and they did seem to know people and staff.”
Writing online, one person said: “Landlord needs to go. If that needs pointing out, hope no one goes to Chiverton Arms ever again. Congratulations.”
With another person writing in the comment section of CornwallLive saying: “Very poor taste! Why would you even want to wear that notorious costume? Glad it got removed.”
A third person has branded the outfit as “evil”, saying it was “not the slightest bit funny at all” with someone else commenting: “These people will be identified, and their employers will terminate their employment contracts. Their identities will come out in the wash.”

Writing on Facebook, Amanda Hosking said: “I don’t think a person of colour would find this remotely funny. There’s so many other things this person could’ve dressed up as. This was a very poor choice.”
A spokesperson for the pub said: “I’m the landlord and was made aware that one person was dressed like that and the costume was removed.
“We put up a fancy dress 80s theme for the new year and we can’t tell people what to wear.
“We did though tell the person to remove it once we were aware.”
They added: “No complaints were made on the evening for us to deal with.”
