When Demi Moore won her first Golden Globe as best actress in a motion picture (musical or comedy) for her role in “The Substance,” the audience at the Beverly Hilton applauded.
But, watching from home, her most important fans — daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Willis — leapt to their feet, threw their arms in the air and cheered.
In a home video posted by Scout on Instagram, you can see Moore’s daughters, Rumer’s daughter Lou and several guests staring intently at the screen, waiting for the winner to be announced. Rumer cursed nervously as she waited.
When Moore’s name was announced, the group screamed and laughed with joy.
“SHE DID IT,” commented Scout on Instagram, adding later, “This is a huge win for EVERYONE.” When she posted the video in her Instagram stories, she added this text: “I was weeping.”
“GO MAMA GO. So so proud of you. Omg I love you so much. So well deserved,” wrote Rumer.
Notable names such as Aaron Paul, Chloe Fineman, Shane West, Amber Valletta, Helena Christensen, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Monica Lewinsky and Ashley Simpson popped into the comments to share their congratulations.
Emma Heming Willis, wife of Moore’s ex-husband Bruce Willis, shared Scout’s video in her Instagram stories with the caption, “We are screaming over here!!! Congratulations!”
In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Moore said, “I’m just in shock right now. I’ve been doing this a long time — like, over 45 years — and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor.”
Moore told a story about how 30 years ago, a producer told her that she was “a popcorn actress,” which she took as meaning she could make successful movies but would never win awards.
“And I bought in, and I believed that,” she said.
At a point that she was considering leaving the business, Moore read the script for “The Substance,” and she realized her acting career was not over yet.
Before she left the Globes, Entertainment Tonight showed Moore the video of her daughters’ reactions. As she watched, Moore joked, “They’re a vocal crowd.”
