“The Substance” co-stars Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley butted heads as they played off their characters in the body horror film in a playfully contentious bit at this year’s Golden Globes on Sunday.

Moore, who joined Qualley while presenting the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series — Drama, swiftly questioned why her co-star was at the ceremony.

Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance,” which grabbed five nominations for the ceremony, sees Elisabeth Sparkle (played by Moore) take a black market drug that causes her to create the body of a younger version of herself named Sue (played by Qualley).

The two bodies are expected to switch consciousness every seven days.

“What do you mean what am I doing here, Demi?” Qualley asked her co-star.

“This is my week,” replied Moore as she confronted the actor.

“Yeah but it’s the Golden Globes, so,” Qualley shot back as she awkwardly looked away from Moore.

“Yeah, I know but you have to respect the balance, remember?” Moore pressed.

The two were both nominated for their roles in the film, which has been celebrated for its commentary on aging and women’s bodies.

Moore would eventually take home the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy.

In the Globes bit, the two reminded each other that they both earned nods, which caused Qualley to make a face at the camera.

“All right, we are one so shall we do this together?” Moore asked.

“What’s the worst that could happen?” replied Qualley as Moore raised her eyebrows, seemingly alluding to the film.
