Police are treating the death as suspicious
A man’s body has been found inside an abandoned home that caught fire in Surrey on Sunday afternoon.
Surrey Police Service spokesperson Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said officers were called to the 9800-block of 138th Street at 4 p.m. by the Surrey Fire Service, which had found the body inside the home.
“Firefighters located the deceased adult man inside the residence while they controlled the active structure fire,” Houghton said.
“Front line SPS officers attended and have held the scene, while also canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses and surveillance video.”
Houghton said that while it is not known how the man died, the case is being treated as suspicious.
