Police find human remains in burned SUV in Abbotsford park

Officers arrived to find a red 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander ablaze on Friday around 2:45 p.m. along the Forest Service Road in the park.

Police in Abbotsford are investigating after officers found what are believed to be human remains inside a vehicle that was set on fire in Sumas Mountain Regional Park.

Officers arrived to find a red 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander ablaze on Friday around 2:45 p.m. along the Forest Service Road in the park.

When firefighters extinguished the blaze, they found the remains.

Police are working with the B.C. Coroners Service to identify the body, and the RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team as been called in.

The park remains closed to the public as officers gather evidence.
