pulled a cheeky trick to try and get clash against postponed following heavy snowfall in Merseyside overnight.

There had been fears the fixture would be called off after a blanket of snow covered Anfield and its surrounding areas on Sunday morning.

Despite initial concerns surrounding the safety of fans, the fixture was given the green light to go ahead as planned at midday.

But that didn’t stop Neville from doing his upmost to get the game postponed…

As seen in a clip taken from Sky Sports’ Super Sunday coverage, Neville can be seen shovelling snow from the side of the pitch back onto the Anfield turf.

Not one to miss out on the fun, fellow Sky Sports pundit and chum Jamie Carragher was on the opposite side of the divide making sure the snow didn’t stay on the pitch.

In a Chuckle Brothers style ‘to me to you’ sketch, the pair provided plenty of laughter for the groundstaff, who had been painstakingly prepping Anfield for today’s clash.

Commentating over the clip, Sky Sports anchor Dave Jones, who was sat in the warmth of the in-stadium studio, said: “Two men who have a different view about whether this game should be on today, Jamie Carragher doing his best to clear the snow off the pitch and trying to get it back on. It didn’t work, we have game on here at Anfield.”

It’s no surprise Neville isn’t eager to see his beloved United go head-to-head with the leaders, given ‘s side enter the clash on the back of four consecutive defeats.

It hasn’t been the start to life the former Sporting CP boss would’ve hoped for, with United currently a whopping 14 points off the Champions League positions.

Assessing United’s general form under Amorim, the former Champions League winner told Sky Sports: “He knew it was going to be a difficult job, it’s the reason he was brought here. The previous manager had been sacked, having been given some faith in the summer.

“It’s been a horrendous start, the players just haven’t adapted at all, they’re finding it difficult. There are too many changes being made from game to game, as well as in-game as well.”
