will undertake a second private test session with Ferrari this month after the FIA changed their rules to allow F1 drivers to conduct 1,000 kilometres of TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) running across four different test days. Hamilton made the switch to at the end of last year after an 11-year career with .

And the veteran, who celebrates his 40th birthday this week, will be eyeing up a record eighth title with his new team.
According to , have planned an ‘elastic’ test programme to ensure they can practise with acceptable track conditions. Hamilton’s debut will come at ‘s Fiorano circuit near Maranello on either January 20 or 21.
The test programme will then continue in the final days of January at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which is home to the Spanish Grand Prix. have booked four days at the track and will conduct two crucial days of on-track running.
Hamilton will either be driving the Scuderia’s 2022 car – the F1-75 – or their 2023 chassis.

TPC tests were designed to offer mileage to young drivers but have been scrutinised in the past, with some F1 pundits claiming ’s test at Imola last June had gone against the spirit of the rules.
And at the start of December, the FIA published a new version of their regulations, with an update to Article 10.2.
Clause g of the article explains that a driver participating in the F1 world championship will be subject to mileage and duration constraints to allow for a maximum mileage of 1,000km across a calendar year, which can be completed over a maximum of four days.
