Dry two loads of laundry without a tumble dryer or heating in just 4 hours with 16p method
The worst part of doing has to be the drying process, particularly in winter when drying outdoors is not an option.
The obvious solution is to put washing in tumble dryers or on radiators – both of which are expensive options that many don’t have the luxury of doing.
Drying clothes on radiators can easily cause problems when moisture from the laundry damages nearby paint on the walls. This leaves many who try it asking .
While using an airer is a feasible option, one fan on the Cleaning Tips Facebook page disliked how long clothes take to dry on them.
Gemma Wagner wrote: “What is the best way to dry clothes when washed please as my normal airer is just not drying them quickly enough?”

Using an airer on it’s own won’t dry laundry fast
Fellow group members recommended Gemma pair her airer with a dehumidifier and opt for an extra spin cycle in the washing machine.
A dehumidifier pulls moisture from the air and your clothes to speed up the drying process without mould forming due to the excess moisture in the air.
Place your clothes on a drying rack, turn on your dehumidifier and your clothes will dry quickly.

A dehumidifier speeds up laundry drying time

Lynne Stevenson commented: “I got a dehumidifier. I can dry two wash loads in four hours – 4p an hour to run. Thought about it for ages as not cheap, but seriously worth getting one.”
It’s a good idea to give your washing an extra spin at the end of the cycle
Ann Stanton said: “I do a double spin in the machine first and use a winged airer with a cover and put the dehumidifier underneath. Dries really quick. Even towels.”
It’s a good idea to give your washing an extra spin at the end of the cycle to remove surplus dampness and water.
Also, give your washing a good shake when you remove it from the machine, for extra aeration.
