Cape Verde is an island off the west coast of Africa
A beautiful island off the African coast is 26C in January and an ideal spot for a winter holiday.
In fact, it is so beautiful that the Telegraph once hailed it as a place where “the whole world wants to visit.”
Cape Verde, an island state off the west coast of Africa, consists of ten islands and was uninhabited by humans until the 15th century.
Today, the archipelago offers far less and is renowned for its pristine powder-soft beaches, crystalline azure waters and warm temperatures.
Cape Verde’s climate rarely drops below 20C at any time of the year. In January, you can expect to be treated to 30C temperatures.
According to the experts at TUI, the best time for a getaway at Cape Verde is “between November and June”, which is the region’s dry season offering warm and sunnier climates.
Cape Verde has an average January temperature of 26C
The ten islands that make up Cape Verde include São Vicente, São Nicolau, Santo Antão, Santa Luzia, Maio, Sal, Boa Vista, Santiago, Fogo, and Brava.
The islands of Cape Verde lay seemingly empty until colonialism gave it a population with Portuguese and Genoese sailors later establishing the region.
Cape Verde takes its moniker from Cap-Vert which is the long peninsula that juts out from the side of Senegal and is the most western point of Africa.
Beaches to visit that have been named among the best include Santa Maria on the island of Sal and Santa Monica beach on Boa Vista.
