A Place In the Sun star fears fans ‘switching off’ as house decision ‘leave them upset’

has returned to screens in a brand new prme time slot on and presenter thinks it is a perfect fit for the aspiratioanal property hunting show.

Speaking exclusively to , Jean said the prgramme often resembles a “soap” and you “couldn’t write” some of the things that happen on it.

“I think it sits really well at six o’clock. I just think it’s a lovely time. And there might be more families sitting around watching it as well.

“You know, three o’clock kids are still in school, so [now] maybe those sort of younger teenagers might be sitting around and it moves into the realms of being a family show,” she enthused.

“It’s exciting… there’s going to be more eyes on it and I think it fits really well in that time slot, because there’s so much drama in places and it’s almost like a soap!” she exclaimed.

“You know you have people who deserve this property. They hate this one. They’re in a bad mood. They buy it at the end.

“It’s a script that we couldn’t write if we tried. So I think that it fits really well in that time slot. And I just hope that even more people are going to enjoy it,” she enthused.

One group who certainly enjoy the programme – in any time slot – are the “Placers”. This online fan community religiously watch the show and air their opinions very loudly on social media.

Jean admitted her own parents were equally guilty of having strong feelings about the episodes she appears on.

“People have opinions on properties, and they’re allowed to have those opinions,” she stressed. “It’d be boring if they liked all five properties in every episode – people would switch off.

“And people get upset. My parents were terrible for it,” she laughed. “They’d be like, ‘You worked so hard, you flew all that way, and they never bought a property’.

“I’m like, ‘calm down – it doesn’t work out this time [but] they will go back and they’ll find a property. I’ve helped them for the next time’,” she said.

“So I know from my own household that people get invested in whether they buy or not at the end,” she laughed.

A Place In The Sun is on Channel 4 weekdays at 6pm.
