Despite rumours to the contrary, we didn’t get a . In fact, we didn’t get anything related in 2024, other than a few updates to investors.
However, with the release date still scheduled for autumn 2025, will need to make some kind of announcement soon.
And judging by the latest sales projections, the sooner Rockstar Games announces the 6 release date and opens pre-orders the better.
According to industry analysts at DFC Intelligence (via ), GTA 6 is expected to make a staggering $1 billion in pre-order sales.
Furthermore, DFC predicts that Grand Theft Auto 6 will generate $3.2 billion in revenue during its first year on sale.
“We think it’s going to be one of the biggest entertainment launches in history, not just in games but for all of media,” explained CEO Yoshio Osaki.
With the game’s debut trailer racking up more than 230 million views at the time of writing, a record-breaking pre-order campaign certainly seems likely.
Speaking of pre-orders, there’s a good chance fans will be able to pre-purchase the game following the release of the next trailer.

As you can see from Trailer 1, Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which is based on Florida.
Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”
The previously released trailer gives fans a look some of the map locations as seen from the skies above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as the beach and more.
The trailer also hints at a , which will up the scale to never-before-seen levels.
