The money politicians earn isn’t something many people shy away from discussing, but among the , there’s one whose net worth tops the others by a staggering amount.
According to the , former Prime Minister and his wife, Akshata Murty, have a combined net worth of £651 million.
His net worth is far higher than politicians’, individually and collectively. The current prime minister, Sir is claimed to have a net worth of around £7.7 million, while Reform leader is said to have a net worth of around £3.2 million.
The former Prime Minister’s wealth was scrutinised during the battle to become leader of the in 2022, where it was claimed that his wealth made him out of touch with voters.
However, when addressing it, he acknowledged that he was “fortunate to be in the situation” but put it down to hard work before adding that he would like to provide opportunities for others.

At the time, he said: “I think in our country, we judge people not by their bank account, we judge them by their character and their actions. And yes, I’m really fortunate to be in the situation I’m in now, but I wasn’t born like this.
“My parents worked really hard to provide me with all these opportunities. I’m not going to apologise for what they did for me. And in fact, that’s why I want to do this job because I want to provide those opportunities for everyone else.”

His father-in-law, Narayana Murthy, is the founder of Infosys, a multi-billion-dollar IT company – valued at £3.5 billion, the company now has a market cap of £75.82 billion.
Rishi’s wife, Akshata Murty, controls approximately 0.9% of the IT company’s share capital, and on top of the shareholding, the family receives dividends from the company. Between 2020 and 2024, it was estimated she had dividends of £50 million from Infosys.
After getting married in 2009, today the couple own multiple properties claimed to be worth over £15 million – including a penthouse apartment in Santa Monica, and their primary London residence which they reportedly paid £4.5 million for when they bought it in 2010.
